Story

One of the most requested recipes by my kids if my aunt Ellen asks what they would like. Its a sweet treat and only in the South would this be called a salad!

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups Crushed Pretzels
  • 4 ½ tbsp Sugar
  • ¾ cup Unsalted Butter, Melted
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 16 oz Cream Cheese, softened
  • 8 oz container Cool Whip, thawed
  • 6 oz package Strawberry Jell-O
  • 2 cups Boiling Water
  • 16 oz Frozen Strawberries, cut half

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350° F.
  2. Mix pretzels, 4 ½ tbsp sugar, and melted butter. Press the resulting mixture firmly in the bomm of a 9 x13 Pyrex® pan. Bake for 10 minutes and allow to cool completely.
  3. Beat sugar and cream cheese until smooth. Fold in the Cool Whip. Spread over the cooled crust. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes, until the mixture is set.
  4. Stir together Jello-O and boiling water. Mix in the frozen strawberries and pour over the cream cheese mixture.
  5. (Optional) If the mixture is too runny, put in the refrigerator for 5 to 10 minutes to cool a bit.
  6. Refrigerate until completely set, about 1 hour.
