Strawberry Pretzel Salad

Story
One of the most requested recipes by my kids if my aunt Ellen asks what they would like. Its a sweet treat and only in the South would this be called a salad!
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups Crushed Pretzels
- 4 ½ tbsp Sugar
- ¾ cup Unsalted Butter, Melted
- 1 cup Sugar
- 16 oz Cream Cheese, softened
- 8 oz container Cool Whip, thawed
- 6 oz package Strawberry Jell-O
- 2 cups Boiling Water
- 16 oz Frozen Strawberries, cut half
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350° F.
- Mix pretzels, 4 ½ tbsp sugar, and melted butter. Press the resulting mixture firmly in the bomm of a 9 x13 Pyrex® pan. Bake for 10 minutes and allow to cool completely.
- Beat sugar and cream cheese until smooth. Fold in the Cool Whip. Spread over the cooled crust. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes, until the mixture is set.
- Stir together Jello-O and boiling water. Mix in the frozen strawberries and pour over the cream cheese mixture.
- (Optional) If the mixture is too runny, put in the refrigerator for 5 to 10 minutes to cool a bit.
- Refrigerate until completely set, about 1 hour.
